Dogs Trust Essex Receives First Visitor - A Cat!

09 May 2014

UK - Dogs Trust’s newest rehoming centre, Dogs Trust Essex, is due to be officially opened on 2 June 2014 and animal lovers across the county are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the first rescue dogs once the builders leave.

However, one local who won’t be too pleased to see the dogs is a tabby cat who has decided the £7.35 million state-of-the-art rescue centre is a good place to set up home.

Dogs Trust Essex Rehoming Centre Manager, Maria Wickes, comments: “One morning this kitty just arrived at the gates and she has made frequent visits ever since.

"It is ironic that our first unofficial resident would be a cat, but we are all animal lovers and we adore her, even if she meows rather than barks at us each morning!”

Staff are now hoping local residents might recognise her in case she is someone’s pet or perhaps she is a local farm cat.

Maria Wickes continues: “Dog the Mog, as we have decided to call her, is rather feral and isn’t keen on human company unless she is being fed. So, it could be that she is simply a feral cat.

"Please do get in touch with us if you recognise her. Otherwise, we are very happy to welcome her to Dogs Trust Essex.”
