Parvovirus Outbreak Reported in Grantham

02 June 2014

UK - Over the last two months, cases of parvovirus have been reported in dogs in the Grantham area.

Parvovirus is usually a fatal disease if presented with symptoms to a veterinary surgeon, reports Vets4Pets.

Typical symptoms include uncontrolable vomiting and diarrhoea, often with blood, a lack of appetite and extreme morbidity.

Although it cannot be guaranteed, vaccination is the best way to try and prevent the disease.

Puppies can have an early parvovirus vaccine from as early as six weeks old.
