Funding Boost to PDSA from Postcode Lottery Players

25 June 2014

UK - PDSA has received a £50,000 funding boost from players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

The additional award, which will support PDSA’s vital work, brings the total raised for the animal charity in less than a year to a £600,000.

PDSA, dogThis important funding ensures PDSA can extend treatment, preventive health and education programmes.

Last year alone, over 470,000 pets received help from PDSA - a figure that has risen by more than 50 per cent in recent years.

Annually, it costs around £60 million to run PDSA’s charitable service - all of which is funded entirely by public support.

Elaine Pendlebury, PDSA senior vet, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to receive this additional support, which will have a major impact and help to improve pet wellbeing across Great Britain.

"We are extremely grateful to the players of People’s Postcode Lottery for their generosity.”

PDSA is one of 40 charities that will receive the extra funding boost from players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

This support has made a huge difference to hundreds of communities with funding awarded to grass root groups and local projects as well as national and international charities.

In total, over £41 million has been raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery for good causes since its launch in 2008.
