Police Kill Bull Terrier with Taser After Man Attacked

12 August 2014

UK - It's been revealed that the dog killed by Leicestershire police on Sunday evening (10 August) was a Bull Terrier.

A man spent the night in hospital after the dog ran out of a home and attacked him and the Alsatian he was walking in the Braunstone Town area.

It's thought the animal locked its jaw around the man’s knee and wouldn’t let go.

The man, in his thirties, had to spend the night in hospital and his four-year-old dog is believed to have almost died in the attack.

The animal, which was not wearing a collar, was tasered to prevent further injuries and possible attack of other members of the public or officers.

In a statement, the force said: "The attacked dog is currently receiving treatment for its injuries at a veterinary practice.

"The injured owner received puncture wounds to his legs and was taken to hospital for treatment. "No-one else was injured during the incident."

Enquiries are in their very early stages and officers are appealing for anyone who has any information regarding the incident to contact police or Crimestoppers, which is free and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
