Campaign to Save Pet Dog of Ebola Stricken Nurse Goes Viral

08 October 2014

GLOBAL - Outraged pet lovers have flooded social media outlets to voice their disgust at Spanish officials decision to euthanise the pet dog of ebola-striken nurse, Teresa Romero Ramos.

Pet owners are sharing photos of their animals with the hashtag '#SalvemosAExcalibur' – which is Spanish for 'Let's save Excalibur'.

Officials have removed the dog from the apartment shared by Ms Romero Ramos and her husband, who is also in quarantine.

News of the mixed-breed dog's plight led to clashes between protesters and police outside the couple's home.

Officials in Madrid have reportedly obtained a court order to euthanise the pet and the mixed-breed is scheduled to be put down overnight.
