Blue Cross Pets Receive Kind Donations

23 December 2014

UK - Homeless pets at Blue Cross are thrilled to have received early Christmas presents, thanks to a mother and daughter who have decided to celebrate differently this year.

Instead of buying presents, Amber Rogers and her three-year-old daughter Isabel are offering to help out and make donations to local charities and make it a real season of goodwill.

The pair visited the Southampton rehoming centre in Hampshire to drop off gifts of toys and treats for the homeless cats and dogs who will be spending Christmas with us while they wait to find happy new homes.

Amber said: “The best part is seeing people smile and knowing that you can make a difference, Blue Cross is such a wonderful place and we had a wonderful time seeing all the animals.”

Three-year-old Isabel added: “It was really nice to take presents for the pets at the centre. I loved all the cats and doggies and wanted to take them all home.”

Lara Alford, Rehoming Centre Manager for Southampton Blue Cross was really touched by Amber and Isabel’s visit and gifts.

Lara says: “Giving up their presents to help homeless pets is a lovely thing to do and I know the pets here at the centre will really enjoy their gifts.

“We’d all like to say a big thank you to Amber and Isabel and to all our generous supporters whose donations mean we can carry on helping unwanted and abandoned pets.”
