Missing Cat Found Shut in Phone Box

UK - Missing tabby Alfie has been reunited with his owner after being discovered trapped in a phone box.

Thankfully Alfie was microchipped, so when a member of public found him and took him to the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home south London centre, he was quickly reunited with his owners.

Alife was found five miles from his home in Forest Hill and it is a mystery how he wandered so far. Luckily, owner Luke Price had microchipped Alfie for peace of mind, making it easy for us to reunite them.

Luke said: “We couldn’t believe it when we got a call to say Battersea had Alfie. He was missing for ten weeks and we desperately tried to find him. We couldn’t be happier to have him back in our life and hope he stays a bit closer to home this time! We thank everyone at Battersea for looking after him and contacting us – it was such a relief. I’m so glad we had him microchipped, we might never have seen him again if we hadn’t.”

Battersea’s Head of Cattery Lindsey Quinlan said: “Only 15 per cent of cats that arrive at Battersea are microchipped, making it almost impossible for us to reunite animals with their owners. So when a cat like Alfie comes in and we can contact the details on the microchip, it makes our job very rewarding. Alfie’s long journey shows the importance of microchipping your pet as you never know how far they can travel from home.”
