Britain's Messiest Pet Found in Nationwide Search

21 April 2015

UK - A nationwide search has unveiled eight-year-old Poodle, Frankie Bassett, as the UK’s messiest pet; after a photo of the culprit pulling her best ‘it wasn’t me’ look caught the attention of judges at

Frankie, originally from Liverpool but who now lives with her owner Sally in the Scottish Highlands, was caught looking guilty in front of split bin bags and a kitchen completely covered in rubbish.

The photo triumphed over heaps of other entries highlighting the chaos our furry friends can cause – from a door destroying dog to a parrot perched in a sieve filled with flour.

Sally and Frankie have won a pet photography session and the title of Britain’s Messiest Pet.

Commenting on their win, Sally said: “I was thrilled that Frankie won the competition as she is a very messy pet and now has the title to match! In addition to getting her paws on our bin bags, her favourite walks involve getting wet and muddy too!

"Although she is a white dog she often comes home very dirty and grey. If there is mud, Frankie will find it. That said, Frankie is a treasured pet and is a pleasure to have around – most of the time!”

Sian Austen, Head of Online at Topps Tiles, said: “We have been absolutely inundated with photos of messy pets and we’ve loved seeing what the nation’s animals have been getting up to.

"While we’ve had all sorts of entries, showing all sorts of pets from up and down the country, the challenge has proved to be the perfect demonstration of why wipe-clean tiled flooring is a good choice for pet owners with hoards of muddy-paw photos!”
