Leading Pet Charity Seeks Top UK Vet Nurse

02 August 2016

UK - Leading pet charity Blue Cross is calling to pet owners across the country to find the UK‘s 'Veterinary Nurse of the year 2016'.

The charity's award recognises the dedication and support that registered veterinary nurses offer pet owners. Not only by caring for sick and injured pets but also encouraging responsible pet ownership and improving pet welfare.

This year the awards will be presented at the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) Annual Congress which takes place from 7-9 October at Telford International Centre in Shropshire.

Last year's Veterinary Nurse award was presented to Laura Lacey, of Chester, who has been a veterinary nurse for over 10 years. She was nominated for her the award for her tireless work educating pet owners and her commitment to animal welfare.

David Catlow, Blue Cross Director of Veterinary Clinical Services said: “Blue Cross gives this annual award to recognise the hard work of vet nurses across the UK. We are looking for those vet nurses who really go that extra mile to improve the lives of pets."

If you know a vet nurse who you believe has gone the extra mile for your pet or made a significant contribution to animal welfare, complete the nomination form on the Blue Cross website at

The deadline for nominations is Friday 9 September 2016
